The writing was funny but also sharp, witty and clever. Even though it was a sitcom, the show wasn't afraid of tackling and addressing social and controversial issues such as child molestation, racism, bulimia, class division and sex for example. But the star of the show was Coleman as Arnold and his famous catchphrase 'whatcha talking'about Willis?'. Mrs Edna Garrett played by Charlotte Rae was funny, charming and witty and a great addition to the cast. The performances given by the main leads in Diff'rent Strokes was great, particularly Conrad's as the strict but fair, Mr Drummond. I feel guilty getting laughs knowing that they went home and cried or faced abuse.ĭiff'rent Strokes was and still is regarded by many as not just one of the most successful sitcoms in TV history but one of the very few, which succeeded due to the multi-racial cast of Conrad Bain as Philip/Mr Drummond, Dana Plato as Kimberley, Todd Bridges as Willis, and the lovable scamp, Gary Coleman as Arnold Jackson. I only wished that the off-screen drama was cut down for their sakes. I only wish Todd and Gary best for their future. Dana Plato who is gone to a better place never did get to experience the life of Kimberly Drummond except when she was on the set. How little did we know the truth? Gary Coleman never escaped the image of the chubby cute kid on Different Strokes. Of course, there was the guest appearances of First Lady Nancy Reagan preaching against drugs. I like them both in the role as the second Mrs. I never approved of them dissing Dixie Carter for Mary Ann Mobley. Edna Garrett played by the wonderful Charlotte Rae who got her own show without all the drama of Different Strokes. Of course, he was supposed to only be acting but I think he became a paternal figure to those youngsters. Conrad Bain was great as the father figure of the show. It's sad to watch the show, I wish I didn't know Dana Plato's problems because now I see how much she wanted her life to be like Kimberly Drummond. Watching the true Hollywood story on E! about the cast of Different Strokes was heartbreaking, after all, two of the three cast members had substance abuse problems and the star, Gary Coleman, had problems with his parents that he sued them. People need to stop acting like aim assist doesnt affect the game and its all RNG. if your on the east side of the map and I shoot west RNG doesnt even come into play. I still have to aim well first, then RNG comes into play. im glad its gone for now, not because it was some huge advantage but because the level of toxicity and paranoia in caused was way out of line with its effects. so, basically every newbie/baddie out there automatically thinks hacker/cheater, making it a huge lightning rod that took away from the actual cause of said players result in-game. Seems like most times i was accused of using said mod the accusation was from players going in a straight line and not changing course at all. perfectly led shots fall all around a target, or sometimes RNG can compensate for sloppy aim. aiming in this game is pretty simple to get a hang of in the first place mod or no mod and is very RNG dependent. there is no way to tell if a player hitting you is using the mod or just knows what theyre doing. i think many over-inflated the influence that said mod had (and will have as soon as its updated). I have noticed no change in the amount of hits im taking or any change in citadels hits in my numerous battles since 3.1. I bet you are one of them people who would sail in a line and not move when fighting, Thus making a easy target, There was only very small % of people using the mod, It's easy to blame something when you fail to learn. This game is so much better without them. Please, please, PLEASE make any aim lead indicator or assistance modifications a banned activity. Skill is an important factor in play again. I was able to use the manoeuvrability of my DDs at mid to close range to CVs to increase my survivability. I was able to make BBs miss my CVs with manoeuvre and even the playing field at medium-long range. Ranging shots have become useful again adding to the flavour of the game. I didn't get slammed for huge first salvos from max range with my BBs. When people hit me for huge damage I could type in chat "nice shot" knowing that they made a skilful play. I just wanted to say, that my enjoyment of the game last night post 3.1 without hordes of people using aim assist mods, was immense. Mine is a average of 250ms pre 3.1 and now its 250 to 320ms. By low ping i mean better than mine ha ha. The only folk who got real benefit from aim assist are folk with low ping. the fact you could get a top down view, look over hills and mountains and the fact it increased your refresh rate and when worked with aim assist it was just easy play. Oh and to add i thought the EYE of SAD ONE was more game breaking than aim assist. Ask anyone with experience of the asia server how that goes. Wait till the koreans and more importantly the Vietnamese bring there mods into it. So far we have only seen the russians and germans making these mods. Hence i would rather WG introduced there own Aim assist and then they can control howe good it is, but even that will not stop aim assists, mods etc. I have said from WOT alpha days if they going to allow mods they wil have to have a 3rd party program policing it or it will always be a game of cat and mouse with no true winner at the end. Hence i stopped playing wot a year or so ago. Then MOD s fixed and they come back in droves. Then you have a brief window of no mods and folk using the mod dont even log in. All WG can do is change codding and keep the modders off guard changing the said mods as often as possible. If they cant detect it how do they enforce it. To my knowledge there is no way for them to detect if you are using it or not. I agree fully with what you say, just 1 problem, How is WG expected to detect and enforce this. After much deliberation, we thought it fitting to place this singular film at the top of our list, not just for its strikingly candid take on the human toll of warfare but as a work of sublime visual and aural intensity that uses every tool in the filmmaker’s arsenal to unforgettable and often nauseating effect.Ĭome and See is told from the perspective of Byelorussian lad Flyora (Aleksei Kravchenko), an army recruit whose plucky optimism is torn away as the platoon he’s inducted into are massacred. Making the infamous opening of Saving Private Ryan look like a Sunday stroll in the park, Elem Klimov’s hallucinatory masterpiece feels like the nearest cinema has ever come to recreating the ruthlessly discombobulating sensory experience of war. It’s an extraordinary vision of war, and indeed of humanity – godlike but ultimately sympathetic, exploring not just hearts and minds, but the souls of men in combat. The soldiers are viewed as individuals, questing souls on their own ultimately destructive spiritual journeys, but also as mere facets of the natural world, no more important than the plants, birds and insects that surround them. Malick paints the disputed island as a lost Eden, the two opposing armies as insignificant in the face of eternal nature. The overriding theme in Malick’s work has always been the transition from youth to adulthood, from innocence to experience, from paradise to reality, and this is no exception. Malick’s adaptation of James Jones’s memoir of the battle for Guadalcanal features Sean Penn, John Cusack, Nick Nolte, George Clooney, John Travolta and Woody Harrelson, with Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Sheen, Gary Oldman and Mickey Rourke left, amazingly, on the cutting room floor. So it was no surprise that on his return to filmmaking the Hollywood elite would line up to volunteer. □ The 101 best action movies of all-timeĬast: Sean Penn, Adrien Brody, Jim Caviezel, Ben Chaplinīy the time of The Thin Red Line, Terrence Malick had been languishing in self-imposed exile for two decades while his first two films, Badlands and Days of Heaven, grew in stature. □️ The best World War I movies, ranked by historical accuracy Written by Tom Huddleston, Adam Lee Davies, Paul Fairclough, Anna Smith, David Jenkins, Dan Jolin, Phil de Semlyen, Alim Kheraj & Matthew Singer On the slate are wide-scale epics, personal dramas, devastating documentaries, historical revisions and even a comedy or two. And who better to ask than the man behind Inglourious Basterds and walking war-kipedia of combat flicks, Quentin Tarantino? He’s helped us parse hundreds of films down to a mere 50 all-timers. In fact, there are so many World War II movies that we needed help narrowing them down to a mere 50. What some of the very best have in common is the first-hand experiences of their filmmakers: men like Sam Fuller, Jean-Pierre Melville and John Huston saw it all for themselves and brought that authenticity to their films. There are gripping stories of resistance movies like Army of Shadows and Kanal, a whole canon of Holocaust masterpieces and a number of seminal documentaries that employ real-life footage to bring it all home. A whole genre in their own right, World War II movies come in all shapes and sizes: from gung-ho men-on-a-mission movies like Dirty Dozen and Where Eagles Dare to the bleaker, more complex visions of war that usually emerged from the vanquished nations ( Fires on the Plain, Kelly’s Heroes, Stalingrad, et al). In 2012 CEO Sergey Dmitriev was replaced by Oleg Stepanov and Maxim Shafirov. The company's first product was IntelliJ Renamer, a tool for code refactoring in Java. Please note that access is currently limited by a quota, and as much as we’d love to open it up to everyone, we need to take it step by step.JetBrains, initially called IntelliJ Software, was founded in 2000 in Prague by three Russian software developers: Sergey Dmitriev, Valentin Kipyatkov and Eugene Belyaev. If you’d like to gain access to early releases of Fleet, please fill out the application form to join the Fleet Explorer program. Become a Fleet Explorer!įleet is still in its early days, but we’re committed to delivering a tool that serves our users, and we need your feedback. We’re continuing to invest in all our IDEs, and Fleet will be making use of these advances. And this brings us to a very important point: Fleet doesn’t replace our existing tools but adds further choice. What we’re going to provide with Fleet is a different experience for those who sometimes just want an editor but also want a fully-fledged IDE, those who want to use a single tool as opposed to specialized ones, and of course for those certain scenarios that some of our existing IDEs may not cater for when it comes to distributed development. In fact, all the smart technology that you see in Fleet uses the IntelliJ code-processing engine on the backend. But what’s more, we are also using our existing technology. We’ve taken 20 years of our knowledge and experience writing tools, in particular IDEs, and applied the lessons learned in developing Fleet. Fleet is built on our existing knowledge and technologies It provides the ability to simultaneously work on the same or different files, run tests, access terminals, and other things that you’d expect from a collaborative IDE. It allows you to easily collaborate on a project regardless of whether it is local or remote. Fleet is collaborativeįleet is built with collaboration in mind. JetBrains Space adds orchestration support, making it easy to start a remote server instance from a source repository, which can be customized using a Dockerfile. We’ve all felt the pain of having to set up an environment when working on a new project, making sure we have the correct settings, the right dependencies, and everything else needed to actually start working. This permits Fleet itself to be run in a distributed way, allowing for scenarios where analysis and other operations can be run on a remote machine for instance. By providing a virtualized file system, Fleet can work with local and remote projects equally well.įleet’s architecture is distributed, separated into frontend, backend, workspace server, and file system watcher. With its distributed architecture, Fleet doesn’t care if your project is local, in a container, or in another country thousands of miles away. Fleet is distributedįleet is built from the ground up to cater to the needs of developers who don’t necessarily work with local projects. With Fleet it is all there in a single application. You no longer have to open different IDEs to get the functionality you need for your specific technology. With Fleet, we take that approach one step further by making it a single IDE. At JetBrains, we’ve always strived to leverage the knowledge of the environment you’re using, which is why all of our existing IDEs are based on the same core platform. Let’s dive into more details to see what Fleet is all about! Fleet is polyglotĭevelopers often use a variety of technologies, not only across different projects but also within a single project. This mode is the game's main selling point, and it is a lot of fun and can readily keep someone busy for weeks or months. Consequently, PS Plus Essential provides the perfect opportunity for beginners to get their feet wet, and Jurassic World Evolution 2 is fairly accessible by business sim standards.įollowing a short campaign that primarily acts as a tutorial, Jurassic World Evolution 2 tasks players with completing five alternate reality stories based on the movies. Even though everyone loves dinosaurs and Jurassic Park is a known commodity with a huge following, that might not be enough to convince a newcomer to the genre to make the financial leap. Jurassic World Evolution 2 is by no means a small project, but business sims can be a hard sell to the uninitiated. Nevertheless, NBA 2K23's single-player content has no expiration date. All three options have their positives, and for some, NBA 2K23 will be the month's highlight however, one has to assume that most people who are very interested in 2K's sports title have already picked it up since the game is now approaching the end of its life cycle. PS Plus Essential's June 2023 free games are NBA 2K23, Trek to Yomi, and Jurassic World Evolution 2. That said, unlike Game Pass, PS Plus has largely continued to deliver substantial freebies that subscribers should make an effort to add to their collection, even if they have no intention of playing them right away. Since the launch of PS Plus Extra and Premium, those tiers have overshadowed the service's monthly giveaways that only require an Essential level subscription. What are the best games on PS Plus Extra? What are the standout PS Plus Premium classic games? While most of these are PS5 and PS4 releases, they are occasionally accompanied by a few classic titles. Each month, Sony adds a handful of new games. Such a huge collection can be overwhelming, and the PS Plus app does not make it very easy to browse through the library as such, it can be useful to know this tier's highlights before investing in a subscription. PS Plus Premium has over 700 games covering more than two decades of PlayStation history. PlayStation Plus Premium ($17.99/month): Along with the Essential and Extra tier benefits, Premium includes a library of classic games (PS3, PS2, PSP, and PS1), trials, and cloud streaming in certain regions.PlayStation Plus Extra ($14.99/month): Along with the Essential tier benefits, Extra provides access to hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games.A subscription includes online access, monthly free games, and discounts. PlayStation Plus Essential ($9.99/month): This tier is the equivalent of the old PS Plus.Split into three tiers, this model combines the previous version of PS Plus with PS Now depending on which level someone subscribes to, they will gain access to certain services and games. However, the term has gained much more common use with the massive amount of free-to-play content on mobile devices in recent years. On June 13, 2022, Sony launched its new PlayStation Plus in North America. The term "freemium" was coined in 2006 by a reader of capitalist Fred Wilson's blog. However, to increase in level, attain additional items to customize your character, or visit new maps, you have to pay for the content via in-game purchasing. This includes several dungeons, as well as item pickups. A good example is the MMORPG, Pocket Legends, which allows you to install and play the game for free up to level 12. These games have come to be known as "freemium" content. With the inclusion of in-game purchases in the iTunes App Store, many mobile game developers decided to release games that are free to download, but later give an option to expand or upgrade the game experience through purchasing additional content. The vast majority of Free to Play games use Real Money Transactions to fund their games. An example of this is TrackMania United Forever, which contains all the content of the free game TrackMania Nations Forever plus additional environments and cars. Some free to play games feature in-game advertising, and others allow users to pay for exclusive items, premium content, or upgrades to "full" versions of the game. Free to play should not be confused with freeware, which usually refers to software that is completely free. Free to play games offer users the option to play without any initial fee but provide optional purchases or other payment options. |
